Abstract

Double Skin Façade (DSF) has become increasingly popular due to its energy efficiency and enhanced blast-resistant capacity. However, due to the complex interactions between ventilated DSF and blast waves, there lacks design codes, i.e. ASTM E1300, AS 1288 and UFC 3–340–02, which address blast performances of DSF. In this paper, an experimental program on ventilated DSF subjected to blast loading was conducted. The finite element software LS-DYNA was used to simulate the cavity pressure behaviours. The simulation results are validated against experimental data. Parametric studies were then performed using validated LS-DYNA models to examine the influences of ventilation height, cavity height..
